Photographing Your Composite

We will send one of our trained photographers to a location you choose in your area to have your portraits taken. We will come to you for both indoor and outdoor portraits.

Outdoor Portraits

Many organizations choose to use an area on or near their campus or business to have their portraits taken. This makes your composite unique to your organization because you are photographed in your surroundings, not someone else’s. Along with being photographed on your turf, you will also have an extra two portraits, a total of six, taken during your sitting time. Many organizations enjoy outdoor photography because it allows their members to dress in a more casual fashion and each individual can add flair by wearing their own style of clothing.

Indoor Portraits

Our indoor photography provides your organization with a more formal background. Each individual will have four portraits taken during their allotted sitting time. This allows the individual to have an option for which portrait is used on the composite. For those sororities that use drapes, we can also provide those and pearls for you.

Outdoor vs. Indoor

There are many different reasons to choose either indoor or outdoor photography; it just depends on what you want for your organization. Typically indoor portraits tend to be more formal, i.e. the individuals tend to wear suits, drapes, tuxedos, etc. Outdoor photography is more casual and allows the individuals to express themselves more with their own choice of clothing style. When the individuals use their own clothing style.  The outdoor photography looks and feels more exciting by having bright and bold colors in the composite. Along with receiving six portraits with outdoor photography, it is also more cost effective to have your organization photographed outdoors.

What to Wear or Not to Wear

Many organizations set a dress code for what each person should wear when being photographed. Whether it is a style of shirt, color, or dress shirt and tie, it is up to you. One organization has even bought one style of shirt in different sizes for each member to wear for their portraits. Make sure you don’t wear any bright colors or styles that may “date” you and or the composite.

Make Up Photography Session*

Another added bonus for using UP is that we do offer a make-up photography session.  We would rather avoid a make-up session because it raises our costs and therefore the cost of your composite.  However we know there are emergencies that arise.  Our make up charge is a minimum of $250 or $25 per person whichever is greater.  This charge is in addition to their normal sitting fee.

* University Photography reserves the right to determine whether or not a make-up session is available for your organization.

Digital Photography

We photograph everything digitally. What does that mean for you? It means you will receive your proofs within a week. Not only will you receive a set of proofs in the mail, but you will also receive email proofs and a link to our website to view your proofs as well. By using digital photography we are able to cut large amounts of time out for proofing which also means you will receive your composite board sooner.

Quality of Portraits

Using digital technology to photograph your portraits allows us to give you the best portraits possible. We take our pictures at a very high resolution to make sure we capture each person accurately.

Proofing

Since our portraits are taken digitally it helps speed up the proofing process. We are able to send your proofs to you within five days of having your portrait taken, sometimes even faster. You will also receive an email of your proofs and a link to our website where you can place an order and select which picture you would like to appear on the composite. As an added bonus we will also send a copy of your proofs to your parents via mail and email. You can also order packages from your proof sheet via phone, mail, internet or fax.

Printing & Shipping

Once you have placed an order through UP your order will be processed almost immediately and your pictures will be shipped within two weeks. We send all of our pictures to Candid Color Systems to be printed, which are also adjusted for color correction.

Photo Retouching

Look your best!  We offer two types of retouching.  Our soft-touch retouching softens lines and blemishes. It smoothes your skin, whitens teeth and brightens eyes. This style of retouching will not remove major blemishes, braces, stray hairs or eyeglass glare. We offer a custom retouching, just call 800-819-7087 for an estimate to retouch braces, stray hairs, eyeglass glare, etc.
